Maybe I can offer some help.

I highly suggest getting a degree.

You're worried about painting? Don't be. That fits right into graphic design. Almost every form of art can be utilized in some way. I've also learned so much, and have been able to expand my art.

Trust me. If you want to go to college, I suggest you see what they have to offer. There's a college out there that has what your looking for. It's a choice you won't regret.

I never finished college and find myself going back now. I've worked as an Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Photo journalist, etc.. all to paythe bills. One thing abt art is that all aspects are competitive fields. School helps but I suggest an education in something besides art. I am learning IT stuff and going for a bachelors in buisness. If you can have a larger range of skill and know how to market it and manage the product you have it helps alot.

I do art I am inspired to do, but most of that won't pay the bills unfortionatly. Sometimes you have to do the crap art and jobs to get by in the field.

I don't say you should not study fine art, I just see it as a thing that has limited possibilities.

you dont need a degree for it. infact a degree is just a piece of paper. you can do lots of things in life without this paper.

Boredom will always remain the greatest enemy of school disciplines. If we remember that children are bored, not only when they don't happen to be interested in the subject or when the teacher doesn't make it interesting, but also when certain working conditions are out of focus with their basic needs, then we can realize what a great contributor to discipline problems boredom really is. Research has shown that boredom is closely related to frustration and that the effect of too much frustration is invariably irritability, withdrawal, rebellious opposition or aggressive rejection of the whole show.
The experience of the race shows that we get our most important education not through books but through our work. We are developed by our daily task, or else demoralized by it, as by nothing else.
