so like the topic says, im having issues. this is a used laptop i recently got, good condition, reliable previous owner, and i just noticed that the notebook has the flash drive ports.

the flash drive im being specific about is for a sony memory stick duo. its what i currently have, and all other computers and ports ive plugged it into, i was able to get it in so it could be read. i was able to i thought position it correctly in mine, but its not being recognized. i tried doing something a week or two back to get it to recognize new hardware, and even trying to find out all installed hardware, and re-installing the drivers. no luck.

btw its always been on someone elses computer that ive been able to upload data onto the duo stick, never my own. so i have one now, and i cant get it to work. im debating just doing a complete wipe, and using the system restore cds that came with the computer. im hoping that during that process all necessary drivers (specifically the memory card driver) will be installed and will work. ive only had the notebook for a but over 2 months or since whenever spring semester started, so i have some data, but nothing irretrievable, and im willing to wipe it to get the darn port working.

so any advice? something i havent tried yet? anyone had this problem before. i really want to get this fixed. one because my psp, and my camera both use the cards, soooooooooooo :i suck:

ok thx.

With memory card readers, they need to be specific to read the cards. It may look like it fits, and it may even fit, but it might not be the right type. One of my memory cards required me to get a card reader that took a LOT of different types of cards, as it wasn't covered by most readers.

Also, have you been able to test it with any other compatible device to see if it works or if it's even connected?

Depending on your system, it may not even have a spot to be connected to. For example, I have several USB ports on my system but only some were able to be connected with my previous setup.
