Does anyone still play these (apart from me)? :eye roll:

Examples being Genesis or Sega Saturn games like Echo the Dolphin, Mario, Sonic, Earthworm Jim, Castlevania, etc, etc, ad nauseum?

Some of them seem to have had a rebirth after their release on the Arcade section of Xbox live or on the Wii (you can play Echo on that), but I just play them on emulators on my laptop.

Man, they were so annoying to complete! There were always these hellish bits, like jumping up logs to climb up waterfalls, and it was always a nightmare to get past them...

Like the Carnival Nights level in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, where you had to keep jumping on that fucking piston before it would let you past and on to the boss, and it had to be in a certain rhythm.

Or the Hakuna Matata level in the Lion King where you had to jump up a waterfall on logs (a recurring theme in quite a few platformers, and always hellish to do...)

But damn. Are they addictive.... If only to hear the ending music and see the final boss.

Any takers?

Haha, I know exactly what you mean about that spot in the carnival level in Sonic 2!

I have a Sega Genesis and a game shark for it, along with Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles and Echo the Dolphin. As you can tell, I'm a Sonic fan :P

I have emulators so I can play all these old games on my PC. I still play them sometimes too. My faves are probably Speedball 2, Gods, and Chaos Engine.

I have an Atari 2600, NES, Super NES, N64, and Sega Dreamcast. I pull them all out and play them from time to time.

I LOVE "Ghosts N Goblins" for the NES, but it's just so freakin' difficult!

I still have my SNES, so played a lot of SMW, DK etc on that.
Also, my sister recently bought a master system so Alex Kidd in Myrical world has finally come back to me!
Flimbo's quest was one of my early favourites, on the commodore 64

What about the spinball? Was by far the hardest sonic game, but once completed you felt like one of the gods!

Also what was up with sonic 3D, piece of wank!
