Complaining about your food at a restaurant or take out/delivery place can be scary, and it's rare I would, because at that point I would expect them to do something nasty to my food on purpose.
I don't worry as much about calling a food product company, since the person you speak to is not going to be near the food products. They probably aren't even in the same city.

Speaking of bizarre consequences, when I was 7 months pregnant, (so close to 13 years ago), I was craving a donair like crazy, and it had to be a donair with pickles. I looked through piles of delivery menus, trying to find one that specifically said it came with pickles, and was decently priced.
I order one, get it, it costs more than advertised, which annoyed me but I paid the extra anyway, then the delivery guy leaves and I sit down to eat.
NO PICKLES.
Since I was rather pregnant, and we all know you don't rob pregnant women of their pickles, I decided to call the place. I call, and tell the guy that his menu said there were pickles and that it cost less than I was charged. He tells me it's an outdated menu. Well, I just had it shoved under my door 2 months prior. I tell him I specifically ordered from them because I wanted the pickles and some other places didn't include them. He starts getting pissy with me, then finally decides he's going to send the delivery guy back to take back my food and give me back my money.
Now I am without my food, and I call my boyfriend at the time at the time was over at his parents place and tell him about it. He was the type to react, hmm, "strongly" to about any situation, so he tells me he's going to call them.
Then he calls me back and says the guy started yelling and swearing at him on the phone and was saying he was going to
send the delivery guy over to beat me up.
Beat up a pregnant woman over pickles? WHAT?
He comes back home and calls them from our place, and he holds the phone away from his ear, while the guy and apparently his wife too (who also sounded like a guy) yell, swear and call us names in English and Lebanese. The whole thing was outrageous, but I have to admit, that's the first time I've heard someone yell "You cock! You pimp!" as an insult. And of course I've never been physically threatened over pickles before.
Needless to say, I haven't ordered from them since. I still get their menu flyers under my door on a regular basics, and yes, they still advertise pickles in their donairs.
