yes but they are playing a GAME. at least music (well depending on the artist) has some social/intellectual value to it.
Thats a little short sighted and arrogant isnt it? Are you saying sports have no redeeming social and physical value to people? Or are you saying that intellectual pursuits are just better? I think you're not allowing yourself to separate your own particular preferences from the assertions you make.

Music can CHANGE the way you think and feel about something. Often times for the better.
It can be a force of social change.
Yes it can. Music can also reinforce stupidity, high school mentality, and mindless consumerism. Most music in fact. Most music that people here listen to
in fact.
In the end, almost all music is produced, packaged, sold and bought for entertainment, making it fundamentally no different than the production of sports television. It's no better or worse.

They're overpaid pure and simple which is the point I was trying to make.
Hell give em a salary in the hundred thousands, they can still live plenty well. But oh wait maybe not with 17 cars.. and we couldn't have that could we?
Some athletes are overpaid compared to what other athletes accomplish....yes. Athletes salaries actually function much like regular workers salaries (albeit on a little higher curve) The top 50 guys in some sports make 1/4 to 1/2 of the entire payroll. Most major sport guys make between $200,000 to a mil, and that's after spending several years in minor leagues working for regular Joe checks if you're a baseball or hockey player. Hardly outrageous for being in that small percentage of people that can play the sport at their level. Some of those top 50 guys slack off but still get their fat checks because they signed a contract, while another guy puts up better numbers and gets paid a fraction of the other's salary. The problem is with a few people, not everyone....and even more so the owners of the teams. Most of what goes into the job being a successful musician is the same shit athletes do. I fail to see a really good argument about the value of one over the other.
