I am certainly not playing "Blame the Victim" here, but how exactly does a stranger have the opportunity to slap your child four or five times while she is in your care? I presume that the child was in her care since, as the article states, this assault happened "while the mother and crying child were in another aisle." Perhaps she didn't notice until the third or fourth slap across the face because she was at a different end of the same aisle? Or perhaps the mother exaggerated because 1) she was much too upset to care for the exact number of slaps or 2) it happened so fast that she could not have counted the number of slaps?

That "four or five times" struck me as odd. This is not the sort of news I usually follow, but I'm interested in how that could have happened.

This reminds me of my two-year-old cousin. He LOVES to kiss and be kissed. I worry that that inclination will lead him into the wrong hands or towards the sweet gesture of the wrong person.
