So... i often have lucid dreams... where i know i'm dreaming... and i know i can control what happens...

but for some strange reason... i can't.... i always fuck it up... or it feels like there's something preventing me from executing what i want to do properly!...

like... trying to fly... i make it 10 feet up... and come down... like a large hop... some times i'll get higher... sometimes not... any reason why this is????

you should check out some books on lucid dreaming, they have alot of tips on how to control them, it's mostly the process of falling into the dream, conciously knowing you're falling asleep and all that jazz. I had a list my psych teacher gave me once but that's in storage.

from what ive understand you describing this is akin to astral projection, or perhaps a step towards reaching the astral plane.

while dreaming becoming "conscious" and realizing you are still dreaming, then being able to make the conscious choices to make changes to the dream as you see fit instead of letting the dream go along its own path. this is my understaning of a step towards the astral plane and just random hopping around projection.

i have been trying to achieve this for some time unsucessfully. maybe i'll try again this week.

as for your question, perhaps you should try "going" somewhere. as in imagining where you would like to be/go and the change in surroundings should be near instantaneous. also try making specific changes to certain objects coloration, complexion so on. my understaning is that during some forms of prjection or if your "lucid dreaming" is something else entirely, then you may be able to achieve travel, and see others dreaming spirits/auras/dream shapes/ but will be unaware of each other and unable to influence the enviornment except for movement house to house/room to room and so on.

hope this helped some, did any of what i described sound familiar? in reference or experience? would love to know.

this kid in my class got really good at lucid dreaming, he said the first time he was able to control things he started out small, he just kept changing the color of someone's t-shirt in the dream, that would be kinda cool... if i could lucid dream i'd be trapped on a desert island with josh hartnett :Evil fuckin grin:

This kind of thing freaks me out. Since your mind it creating the dream it seems like the dream would do what you want in the way that you want. But it doesn't always work that way.

In my first lucid dreams I tryed to fly by holding my arms out. It wouldn't work. I had to think of being in the sky rather than willing to fly.

and you know what???

sometimes i day dream with the same outcome....

like... when i was in highschool and there was this shithead i wanted to beat up...

well... i would do alright at first... and then i'd fuck it up..

so i'd actully rewind the scene and redo it... then i'd get a bit further.... and fuck it up.... so i'd rewind again...

over and over and over and over... different outcomes... i just couldn't do it the way i wanted... like there was this hidden section of my mind that was purposely tripping me up...

I had this fucked up dream last night, where I knew I was asleep but I wanted to wake up. Not in fear or anything but I needed to get up. So I started bashing my head into the wall and that didnt work. So I tried to scream. I it seemed like ages and I kept shrieking, trying to wake my body up. It was amusing because it became like a game. Finally I woke up screaming. I knew I had to pee in my dream but my body wouldnt move. LOL

From what i've gathered in my experience with lucid dreaming
The definitive characteristic of a dream is two things that don't match (It sounds stupid I know)

I've never been able to fly in a dream, glide maybe. The weird thing is i've had falling dreams and then when i'm awake i'll stand next to a window overlooking the street maybe rest my head against it like Ferris Bueller's Day Off and i'll just feel nauseous. It's kind of a rush too though.

It feels like you can't swing at someone with full swings in moments of confrontation.
