mine would have to be Melodic BM, it really has some atmosphere to the music, and really good. Bands such as The Abyss, Satyricon, Lord Belial etc...etc. I feel that BM really stands out than thrash metal, doom metal,or death metal. You have soo many BM bands from so many countries. I prefer bm bands from Sweden and Norway. Since Norway is like the strong hold for BM bands and where they are today. hence bands like Old Funeral,Marduk,Immortal, Lord Belial, Dark Funeral, Darkthrone, Burzum, and other great BM bands. At first, I was like ok, BM hmmmm, I gave it a shot, now thats basically all I listen too, is Black Metal. Looking forward to here some other great bands of this fine genere!!!

Honestly, learn to punctuate and capitalize correctly. It's a shame for the "genre" (note genere) to have such stupid fans.

You missed a comma.

It would have been much easier if you rephrased it as follows:

"Excuse me for not spelling correctly, Tomhet."

Guys stop slagging eachother over useless things, lets talk music!

Fav genres: Heavy, black, doom, gothic and I can appreciate some prog and deathbands.

My favourites are doom, 70's stuff, industrial metal (like Godflesh and stuff) and occasionally some grind.

When I hear the term psychedelic rock I think about bands like Pink Floyd. Not exactly metal.

Avant Garde isn't really a style, it's a term used on more experimental stuff that's not really easy to listen to. I don't really know any metal bands that really are avant-garde (Shadowcaster... but yea. And some people call Forgotten Silence avant-garde too, but it's more something like Jazz-Doom or something...).
Real good Avant-Garde is Xenakis and Stockhausen, but that is labeled as Modern Classic Music....

A couple of decent Avant-garde outfits to check out are Kayo Dot, Maudlin of The Well and Fleurety.

Considering I don’t know what’s what half the time. I guess I’m the same way. I like stuff like Kamlot, children of bodum, and older power rock stuff like the scorpions and such, and then I like my German Goth/classical/metal bands. Extra…
