Necrotic Obsession

so lately i've had literary ideas for shit coming out of the wazoo. im currently reading the stand, and from what i can gather i believe he wrote it in the 80's(im too lazy to figure the actual publish date) and then he updated it at some point and time.

so i got to thinking "wow, that was way back 20 years ago" and wondered what it would be like if the book was brought up to date with modern times, the story including things like:
-cell phones
-the internet
-gps devices
-a department of homeland security
-wifi hotspots


and so many other things that are different today in 2008 from 1980. now picture this scene. the end of the world has arrived. not only the christian Armageddon, but Ragnarok, a Jungian kaleidoscope of every religion that involves the end of the world and a battle between the forces of Good and Evil. btw if anyone can reference me to sources of what other religions have this kind of theme, id really appreciate it.

the world isnt only ending, its ending one phase at a time.FIRST;
THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE ARRIVE USHERING IN THE END OF THE WORLD.
during that process everyone, and a percentage of a percentage of people die. the only ones who are saved are those reserved by god to survive. but christianity isnt the only major player saving their boys and gals. for instance the Asatru(norse) have "devotees of Odin" basically ppl he can call on any at any time to come to his side ready to fight in Ragnarok.so every religion saves some of its special people. the four horsemen have passed.NEXT;

THE ASTRAL APOCALYPSE OCCURS WITH THE MERGING OF THE PHYSICAL AND ASTRAL REALMS. the playing field is level now and the stage is set for the battle of all battles, and nobody from any opposing religion is fighting against the other forces of good. God's got his warriors, Odin has his, Satan, and the legions of hell have arrived with Loki, the Fenris wolf, and the World snake, and nothing matters to anyone EXCEPT FOR GOOD OR EVIL TO WIN THE FINAL BATTLE.



okay thats the basic gist of it, several phases of the end of the world merging everyone's version of how the world will end, with a final showdown. and im not making this exclusively between Christianity, and Asatru, ima try and find other religions that have this same theme, tie them all in. what do you all think? i would love to hear some feedback.

i also have several titles in mind, using some word that means the end, i like omega right now. this is what i ahve so far:
-The Book of Omega
-Days of Omega
-Days of the Omega Warriors

hhmmm close but not quite. there is most definitely a duality theme here.

can i ask you if you have read steven kings "the stand"? this is the basis of the idea. in his book it isnt all action a blazing guns. it more of "oh shit, what the fuck is happening!" king of thing while watching everything you know crumble and fall apart around you.

as for hero's, gods, superbads and all that of course there has to be a fair smattering of your superpowered characters. but theres gonna be survivors too. survivors who were meant to survive for a reason. depending on how i see this unfold, it will be from an average joe, or several of their viewpoints. different stories, and plots, motives, very complex. dont get me wrong the gods and all them will have their part but it'ss prolly be a 30/70 difference of story telling, leaning towards the average joes.

dunno if you read the first part of my post, but in it i stated that the stand was set in the 1980's none of the conveniences we have today, therefore in the stage of 1982, communication was alot slower, and alot of stuff rumor in the book, e.g. cities being cordoned off, and martial law declared. imagine that happening today. everyone has a video thing on their phone, you can upload videos, from a vid or a phone vid to your computer and make yourself a reporter on youtube. thats only one example of the difference of the apocalypse happening in 1982, and in 2008.
