Has anyone read Huck Finn? I have to read it for english and I personally despise the book . I think it's stupid and it gives me a headache , but that's me. What are you're thoughts on the book? It's supposed to be the one of the greatest american novels ever. I think To Kill a Mocking Bird kicks it's ass sideways. I'm not even bothered by the repetitive use of the n-word , I just think the book is lousy.

I think there's a subtle, but valid and important message of rebellion and individuality in both Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer.

I suppose you're right , but I thought the book was reilly boring. Especially at the beginning and end.

Plus, without Mark Twain, there'd be no Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradbury, or any of the beats. He pioneered vernacular prose.

Least favorite book covered in American Literature (high school). Luckily, we only read excerpts. Snow days pushed back exams, and we weren't tested on it. Even with Cliff Notes, I grapsed nothing.

I remember doing a unit in class about Lord of The Flies. We read the book and later watched the movie :| I can't recall much of it... it was so long ago sorry :i: But I remember I liked it.
