I own it, I have read it, nothing odd happens to me because of that read.

My brother owns a copy but keeps it here with me and I have read it. Nothing too unusal has seem to come about because of it, but one may never know the workings of dark and accient forces, one may summon or make strange occurences only by wanting and believing.

Watch as the blood swirls upwards,
curling and whirling.
The bright red fluid churning into a figure,
changing into a beast.
A long looped tail spiraling around,
turning and twisting.
Two wings sprouting on a narrow back,
and growing larger.
The pointed wicked mean faced head,
bearing sharp fangs.
My own little blood dragon come to be,
taken form and shape.
Just as it is completed it quickly retreats,
down a narrow escape.
Streaking away from where it came,
sliding back into my vein.

What about Giger's Necronomicon? It was partly inspired by Lovecraft's work. http://www.amazon.com/H-R-Gigers-Necronomicon-Giger/dp/0962344729

And Necromon IV was the inspiration for the movie monster Alien. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necronom_IV

Ah, I do love Giger. :kisses:

What we call the Egyptian Book of the Dead was known to the Egyptians as Reu nu pert em hru translated that means The Chapters of coming forth by day. It is a collection of chapters made up of magic spells and formulas. It was illustrated and written on papyrus. These papyri were commissioned by the deceased before their death. Like most products these text came in different qualities. You could commission the finest quality papyrus money could buy or you could purchase one "off the rack" and have a scribe fill in the blanks with your name.

This collection of funerary chapters began to appear in Egyptian tombs around 1600 BC. It can be thought of as the deceased's guidebook to a happy afterlife. The text was intended to be read by the deceased during their journey into the Underworld. It enabled the deceased to overcome obstacles and not lose their way. It did this by teaching passwords, giving clues, and revealing routes that would allow the deceased to answer questions and navigate around hazards. It would grant the help and protection of the gods while proclaiming the deceased's identity with the gods. The Papyrus of Ani is one of the finest and most complete examples of this type of Egyptian funerary text to survive. The Papyrus of Ani now resides in The British Museum, London.

Translations of the Papyri can be found quite easily. In fact, I've found some online as I was posting this. The Budge translation of the Papyrus of Ani can be found here:

http://www.sacred-texts.com/egy/ebod/

And the modern translation can be found here:

http://www.bardo.org/ani/

In fact, I've found a printable PDF format of the Budge translation of the Book of the Dead, available here:

Happy reading.

You provide a very good source of information Big Chief Knockemboots. But I also have done thorough research into the Necronomicon, namely HP Lovecraft's History of the Necronomicon. After doing so, I managed to track down all versions of the grimoire with the exceptions of the works of Tyson, the Greek Edition, the Latin Edition, and the Arabic Original. Now, I am not saying that the Necronomicon was factually written in 730 AD by the supposed Mad Arab, Abdul Al-hazred. I managed also to figure out what religions are related to the Necronomicons. Here is a list of the religions.

1.) Angel Magick.
2.) White Magick. (Banishings)
3.) Black Magick. (Curses)
4.) Demonic Magick. (Urilia Text)
5.) Chaos Magick (Works related to Yog-Sothoth and Nyarlathotep)
6.) Voodoo (The Maklu Text)
7.) Spagyrics (The Space-Meade in the 1586 Dee Edition)
8.) The Dark Kabbalah
9.) Arabic Mysticism (The Urilia Text)
10.) Egyptian Mysticism (The Cult of the Dog)
11.) Taoism (The Cult of the Dragon)
12.) Mayan/Incan/Aztec Mysticism
13.) Greek Mysticism
14.) Arcadian Mysticism (The Cult of the Goat, i.e. Baphomet, aka Chaos Magick)
15.) Assyrian Mysticism

Now that I have listed the religions related to the Necronomicon, I will now make a list of the entities in the Necronomicon and their mythological/demonic counterparts.

1.) Azathoth/Azagthoth - Chaos
2.) Yog-Sothoth - Ma'at + Thoth (His name is derived from the Arabic word "Yaj-Sajhat" which means "There is no peace at the gate." As for his other alias, Tawil At'Umr, it means "Lord of the Spheres". Also a moon-god. More like an eclectic deity. One that has merged itself with another deity, namely Thoth, the Egyptian god of Magick).
3.) Dagon - Dagon
4.) Tiamat - Tiamat
5.) Absu - Absu
6.) Enki - Ea
7.) Enlil - Enlil
8.) Inanna - Ishtar
9.) Nanna - Sin
10.) Nyarlathotep (Name means "Priest of the Chaotic Ether") - Set
11.) Marduk - Marduk
12.) Anubis - Anubis (i.e. god of the Cult of the Dog).
13.) Pazuzu - Pazuzu
14.) Gelal - Gelal
15.) Akhkarru - The Vampire
16.) Lalassu - Ghosts in the Underworld
17.) Lallartu - Zombies in the Underworld
18.) Eresh-Kigal - Eresh-kigal
19.) Cultes De Ghoules - Werewolves, vampires, satyrs, minotaurs, manticores (i.e. creatures that are half human and half monster, related to Arabic Mysticism).
20.) Cthulhu (Means "Man of Hell", Sumerian Hell was water-based not fire-based) - Leviathan
21.) Shub-Niggurath/Ishniggurab (Name means answer of prayers for material things) - Baphomet
22.) Hastur - Apollo/Ra

This chart should not be scorned too much as it is common knowledge through demonology and religious wars that new gods would replace the old gods taking on some of their abilities. Also, it should be noted that the Necronomicon is a grimoire of eclectic sorcery and the name does not mean "Book of Dead Names". It means "The Book of the Images/Laws of the Sleeping Dead."

Here is links to all of the Necronomicons that are grimoires, both english and foreign. Also, the earliest recorded true Necronomicon was by John Dee.

http://www.keltart.com/necronomicon - Simonicon, R'lyeh Text, Turner/L Sprague De Camp/Wilson Necronomicon, R'lyeh Text, Necronomicon Spell Book
http://www.sacred-magick.com - All versions except for the Italian Edition of Frank G. Ripel and the works of Tyson.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/necronomiconresearch - Spanish Edition (Contains missing symbols for the stones, the Scimitar of Barzai, and the Incense of Zakuba), German Edition, and Dee's Black-Letter Edition
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Necronomicon-Warlock - Book of the Key (Mini-grimoire of dream sorcery that tells how to enter Zin, a city of the Old Ones in the dream world).
http://satanicsingles.com/library.jsp - 1586 Edition, Simon Edition, Nec Spell Book, Dee's Black-Letter Edition, R'lyeh Text, and Turner/L Sprague De Camp/Wilson Necronomicon.
http://www.geocities.com/theerium/ - Ripel Necronomicon - Italian Edition

Here is my sources for evidence.

http://www.esotericarchives.com/necronom/necronom.htm
http://www.keltart.com/necronomicon - Also has HP Lovecraft's "History of the Necronomicon".
http://satanicsingles.com/library/OLYMPUS.pdf
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/60 ... v_XSNG1060

In the pdf entitled "Olympus" is the symbols for the Book of Fifty Names, but are assigned to the deites and spirits of Mt Olympus. Here is the symbols for the stones.

http://shine.yahoo.com/astrology/

Here is the symbols for Caput Draconis and Cauda Draconis.

http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/v ... cbvt&tt=28

You will be pleased to know that the Dee Necronomicon is 635 pages long and is written faithfully in Old English. Thanks to Dee's Book "Olympus" we can safely determine that the Necronomicon did not pre-date him. If the Greek edition or the Latin edition does exist, and surfaces in the future, then we will know that the book predated John Dee. Although, he does make a reference in one of his diaries stating the Necronomicon as "His Arabic Booke". Also, somewhere on the internet is a copy of the Duraic Necronomicon and it mentions the diaries of Theodorus Philetos where he was commissioned to translate the Necronomicon. Like any grimoire, there is a number of blinds (i.e. traps, misinformation) in the book to protect the Sorcerer. Here is a list of the ones in the Necronomicon.

1.) #50 of the Book of Fifty Names
2.) Ishtar choosing a lover and not being able to pass her gate.
3.) The fact that you have to use silver, gold, and other precious metals to make the seals.

All of these was placed in the book to protect the sorcerer or those lacking in spiritual conviction. Here is books outside of the Cthulhu Mythos that nobody in the Mythos mentioned but are related to the Necronomicon.

1.) The Emerald Tablets of Thoth, the Atlantean - http://www.crystalinks.com/emerald.html
2.) The Book of Dagon - http://files.vsociety.net/data/library/ ... ,%20O,%20U)/Unknown/Unknown%20Album/Book%20of%20Dagon.pdf

Here is a list of ties, based on a thorough comparison of the Emerald Tablets of Thoth, the Atlantean and the Necronomicon.

1.) Both mention Ereshkigal, but she is called Ekershigal in the Emerald Tablets.
2.) Both mention Arulu, the Sumerian Underworld
3.) Both have relations regarding the number 7 (seven gates for the Nec and seven lords for the Tablets).
4.) Both provide means to protect the physical and astral body (The Watcher, The Amulet of Masshu, the Elder Sign, the Sign of Koth, the Cross, the Ankh, Holy Water blessed by either a Priest of Horus and a Priest of Thoth or a Catholic/Jewish Priest, Moving your soul in circular motions)....These work as successful banishing against Necronomicon demons.
5.) Both mention Ishtar but in the Tablets she is called "The Lady of Light".
6.) Both promise immortality.
7.) Both have ties to astral stellar travel.
8.) Both are a form of transmutational sorcery.
9.) Both have ties to the Kabbalah.

Your not the only one. Before I quit serving the Old Ones, I set up the stones, the circle, and made the Scimitar of Barzai. Then I did the Conjuration of Yog-Sothoth. Something hit the window hard and it was staring at us (me and my cousin). One time while attempting to banish Nyarlathotep, I felt something pass through me like it was thrown at me but it hit the window. I have no idea what it was.

Methinks summoning one of the Old Ones would have far greater repercussions than stuff getting thrown at you and things hitting the window.

This has always made me laugh just a little. I mean this should really be in the "Broom" closet if your going to take it to this level. I myself haven't read the entire book, only bits and pieces, though when I lay my hands on it I will :)

Why would you want to summon these creatures? For what purpose or intent? I mean if you are only doing it to see if you can do it then you will never succeed. Do you think that some great spirit would obey your every whimsical hearts desire?

Then my second thought to Enumbisag is your exaggerating, making up, or perhaps created it within your own mind, and then fearful of it. There's nothing to be afraid of when your dealing with yourself. Your mind can tell you many things, but you have to decide to accept or deny it.

My dad thinks its a "cute" story, but its a load of bollocks. I would love to go deeper into what Enumbisag posts earlier with that lovely long list of things. It looks like alot seem to be accurate. But even with just skimming through it, I found some issues. I have been studying the occult and ancient ones for about 3 years now, so here are my thoughts.

5.) Absu - Absu ----- THE GREAT ABYSS?! That is what the sumerian texts say, and it would be spelled Abzu at least in other texts I've read :|
6.) Enki - Ea --- Actually called Enkil but have heard every term---- the great snake of knowledge from sumerian texts, he is like satan, he is the strongest entity that contols and raises the this society of superhumans, such as Ghengis Khan, etc. He was cast out the the abyss, and he waits for his time to reopen the gates.
And then Ma'at + Thoth that may be true with the combination, but Ma'at is the egyptian god of justice. Thoth is the egyptian god of darkness... Dark justice would be pretty accurate to your description.

Other than those minor issues, I would love to read what got ya'll so worked up. LOL
