Some Punks think Punk is all swearing, spitting, having a mohawk and singing terribly.

Rest of them think it's what Avril is about... :i:

Punk is about doing what you want without giving a fuck about what others think or say about it. As for the music, its all about having a good time.

Avril, however, is about piss-poor acting and designer outfits. She used to be a minger before she was famous.

in total agreement with u guys, its more than fashiom, as some people i know think, ignorants, punk is something i feel something i got in me, it is not for show or to be on a certain cool "lable" thas stupid to me i guess...

It's true! It's hilarious to listen to.
Then again, punk keeps getting a strangely vague description. When someone described punk in its true state, my roomate (a fall out boy avril etc lover) was like "THAT'S punk?! I thought fall out boy was punk! I don't believe you!"

the term "punk" was invented by British tabloids, so if being Punk is anything, it's exemplifying a derisive term coined by sensationalists trying to make a buck out of creating a public spectacle. "Punk" was a pisstake from the start. the music itself is just stripped-down rock, enjoy it for what it is and not the image that people hide behind.

I don't know how anybody can think of Good Charlotte as punk! punk-rock maybe, but there's a slight difference between the two. I like almost all kinds of punk, everything from the Sex Pistols, riot grrrl-bands like Bikini Kill, Babes in Toyland, Bratmobile and L7, to dance-punk like You say Party! We say Die!. but punk-rock.. is pretty boring. and if I just categorised Good Charlotte as punk-rock, punk-rock is crap.
